Validating Sites

WyoSEO is intended to help website owners, site developers/designers and SEO professionals creating professional quality sites. This is the reason why WyoSEO is currently supporting only the analyzation of the owned sites, so validation of the site is necessary to prove that the added site belongs to the owner.

To validate a site, click on the Site Validation menu on the sidebar.

Validation can be done by two ways:

  • HTML File. This validation process is based on the fact that only the site owner is allowed to place a new file into the root folder of the site. To validate the site this way, a new (empty) htm file should be created and placed on the root folder of the website. The filename is indicated in Wyolyzer.
Note: sometimes sites are created such a way that if error occurs (404 not found), then the user will be redirected to the home page. This can cause false results for validation. To avoid from this situation, WyoSEO checks a random file name as well. If it is available (because of 404 redirect), then the validation will fail. To solve this issue:
    1. Remove redirects from not found pages.
    2. Use metatag validation.
  • Metatag: This validation process is based on the fact that only the site owner is allowed to modify the code of the home page. To validate the site this way, include the suggested meta tag into the header of the homepage.

To continue validation, select the desired method (HTML file or Metatag) and click on the Check Site button. A new page appears with a Click to Continue button. Click on this button. Finally, the result line indicates whether the activation was successful or not. If it was successful, then new menus appear on the left sidebar (see Validated Site Help Page for more information)
